A typical project will comprise a number of phases. The breakdown and content of these will depend on the nature of the product to be manufactured and how much development or design work is still to be undertaken, or what further re-design is required for production or cost down engineering. Depending on circumstances, the running order of tasks may need changing.
Typical Project Phases:
Phase 1 Information gathering: we work with the client to fully understand their business, its strategy, objectives, culture, needs and requirements as well the products to be outsourced and associated parameters.
Phase 2 Prepare project SOW and RFQ: After an initial feasibility check, we prepare and agree with the client an SOW (Statement Of Work) for the project and outline project plan. We then produce an Audited Documentation pack for the product and RFQ (Request For Quotation).
Phase 3 Feasibility Study: We circulate the RFQ to appropriate EMS partners from our pre-qualified list, or seek out others according to the project requirements. We analyze quotations received and review the parameters to ensure project viability before making recommendations to the client. We carry out on site facility and quality audits of short listed EMS companies.
Phase 4 Contract Negotiation: We advise the client on contract terms and act as a facilitator in contract negotiations (N.B. the contract is always between the client and the EMS - we act only as advisers, not middle men)
Phase 5 Project Setup: Pattotek will draw up a full project plan and project manage the New Product Introduction: This can include managing and arranging, or undertaking, the following:
Completion of design work
Cost down engineering and component selection
Design Verification and Regulatory approval testing
Preparation and audit of Production documentation
Production setup and tooling
Development and setup of test systems, procedures and fixtures
Transfer of knowledge to EMS
Approval of component vendors
Phase 6 Pre Production, Production: We arrange for sample production runs and audit these before passing samples to the client for approval. Once full production begins we continue to monitor and manage the process on behalf of the client to ensure that deliveries are on time and quality standards are maintained. We will continue to manage the EMS relationship for as long as necessary.
